Plugging Away and a Contest!

I was going to start off by saying that life has been moving a-mile-a-minute for the past couple weeks, but then, after doing the math quickly in my head, I realized that if you still use the 'old math'* that would mean 60 miles per hour, which is not really very impressive. It's actually rather average. Life is moving 2-miles-a-minute just sounds silly...

"Let me 'splain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up." (reference anyone?)
I am now the owner of 2 very nice and very expensive pairs of lovely Dansko shoes. Why is this important? Well, it seems that wearing crummy shoes (crummy being defined as 'having little to no arch support) when one has extremely high arches can really catch up with a person, and make it quite difficult to do ordinary daily things, like walk. It would also seem that increasing inflammation in one's hip can actually cause said hip to go 'out of joint'.

A morning of crutches, an emergency chiropractor appointment or two, an ice pack, and new shoes... yeah, fun stuff. Sheesh!

The limping is much less now and the pain even lesser (except maybe the pain in the checkbook). I'm pretty sure that last pre-parenthetical phrase was nowhere near grammatically correct. I can't even blame it on heavy pain killers, as, due to nursing Baby J, I'm not taking anything other than an occasional ibuprofen.

Enough about my aches and pains already! Onto the knitting... or at least the new yarn giveaway! I've got 3 skeins of the new 'Sweater' yarn from Spud & Chloe that can be yours for the asking, or more blog-appropriately, the commenting. Comment here by midnight Memorial Day (or whenever I wake up on Tuesday...) for your chance to win! Post a link on your blog (and come back to leave the link here- it just makes it easier for me,...) for another chance. Tell me who's blog you link-hopped from and you'll both get another chance. Okay, I'd better get to work on the spreadsheet to keep track of it all.

I'm hoping to finally get some decent pictures taken of a few recent FOs this weekend. Would before, or after, our first camping adventure of the year be better? Hmmm...
Have fun, spread the word, and happy knitting-
ali
PS- After commenting here, hop on over to Susan B. Anderson's blog (by Friday!) for another chance to win some of this fabulous yarn and a copy of her Sweet Pea Hat pattern!
*If you use the 'new new math', well, then you could just go with whatever speed you feel is right... it's just easier that way.

omg .. I love the colours of yarn in your first picture -- the turquoise, orange and white are beautiful together :) the combo is making me very happy!

I was reading your post, and had to comment ... the Dansko shoes have changed my life! I too have really high arches, and i loved cheap, cute shoes for way too many years to result in any good coming from it for my feet ... 6 years ago, I discovered Danskos, and my feet haven't hurt since (they fit my orthotics, and look stylin' too, what more could you ask!). I love the red ones you got - very pretty!

Ooh I am sorry to hear that, I hope you are not in too much pain.

Now it says to Comment here by midnight Memorial Day (or whenever I wake up on Tuesday...) for your chance to win! Post a link on your blog (and come back to leave the link here- it just makes it easier for me,...) for another chance.

So my the way my mind works I now need to go post a link on my blog and then come back again. It could be lack of sleep, maybe my kids or not enough coffee or whatever but I am going to do just that. LOL

Oh, I love that beautiful yarn! I love any yarn, really.

I'm so glad to hear about the Danskos. I have really high arches, too, and last summer was almost unbearable. Too many years in flip flops. I broke down and bought crocs (I loathe the way they look) and they helped, but a pair of Danskos for the fall could be just the thing.

I am hoping that a person that does not have a blog can also win that gorgeous yarn. I would so love to win it and then spend hours dreaming about what to make with it before making the final decision. :-) Though I don't have my own blog and am not one to leave a frivilous comment each time just to make my presence known, I am a frequent visitor to many and so enjoy reading about projects and lives of so many. So, hopefully I can be included in this drawing and will continue to enjoy your blog. :-)

Love the yarn. LOVE the Danskos. yes I know, they look therapeutic but I have some great Mary Janes that are a little less nurse-from-the-1970s and I love them.

Fun blog, I came here from Susan B.

I blog-hopped from susanbanderson.blogspot.com, where there was a bit of Spud & Chloe given away yesterday.

I've not read your blog before, but since the first post I read has an obscure reference to Princess Bride...well...yeah ;-) That's awesome.

I also happen to LOVE danskos, and also currently own 2 pairs. Hope your feet (& rest of your body) feel better!!!

Love the colors in this new line. It's nice to see "newer" colors.

WOW!!! This beautiful yarn brings back SO many memories of my childhood. It takes me back, 53 years, to the summers we rented cottages on the lake with all my cousins. I don't know exactly what is recalling the memories, maybe the colors of the beach umbrella. Whatever, I LOVE THIS YARN.

I hopped here from Susan Anderson's blog.

GIVE ME THE YARN AND YOU WON'T GET HURT!! I hope I win! The yarn looks fabulous!

I also agree about the Dansko shoes. That is all I wear all winter. And whenever I go back to my before kid shoes(the cute little heels) I can only make it an hour in them. I haven't bought any summer Dansko's yet.

Love those bright colors! This is my first visit to your blog. It's nice to know there are other mothers of big families out there! I have 7 also, but mine range in age from 44 down to my baby who is 25. One of them is even a grandpa. I told him I was MUCH too young to be the mother of a grandfather!! 8-)

Hoping to win the yarn. I don't have a blog, though. My emai is tayzzmom@aol.com

PS. I'm going to look for some Dansko shoes. I have high arches and lots of pain.
