Spring 2008- Knitting Goals Contest

When my 7 year old daughter informed me this morning that it was the 13th of March and that meant there were only 7 more days until spring, I thought it seemed like there is no time like the present to throw out the next season's Knitting Goals Contest!

Last summer's contest was such a blast that I was thinking it would be great to do one each new season. It's a great time to stop and take stock, re-evaluate the priorities on the knitting to-do lists, and set some short term reasonable goals. I was so swamped with activities and family illnesses that I plum forgot about a fall contest, and I just didn't get around to a winter one... It's time to let bygones be bygones, or whatever they say, and just pick up where we are, and where we are is on the verge of spring. We had our first high of around 50 today, and after last Thursday's high of 15 and last Friday's high of 12, the current 40's are a much welcomed sign of spring- so bring on the contest, eh?

I'll bring on the contest- y'all pitch in and bring on the goals, okie dokie? I'll start the bidding by putting up a bag of Blue Sky Dyed Cotton in the prize coffers, with copies of the Fitted Tank and Kid's Kimono, maybe the new Girl's Sundress and/or Flower Headband (they all call for this soft and sweet yarn), and I'll see what else I can come up with to add to the mix. You do your part by commenting here & then blogging about your spring knitting goals, remembering to link back to this post. Easy enough? Okay then, let's get this show on the road.

Deadline is midnight on the first day of Spring- so off with you, look through your basket of UFO's, your stash, and your Ravelry queue, and get some goals set, then get knitting!

Have fun with this one!

Happy knitting-

ali

eta- I forgot to say that if you mention whose blog you saw this contest on, that person will win a runner-up type prize (which is yet to be determined, but certain to be scrumptious). If you came directly here, feel free to leave the name of a favorite friend or blogger, somebody has to win the extras...

I'll just cheer everyone on - the minute I make a list of knitting goals, I proceed to never achieve any of them! Darn, I'm contrary...

I surfed from Chris' blog.

My only knitting goal of this spring is to spin up some fiber so that I can knit my hand-spun. So it is sort of a spinning/knitting goal.

I saw this via Stumbling Over Chaos...

I have knitting goals up to my ears this spring...every time I turn around there is a new baby or wedding or big event in the works. On the needles right now are the baby afghan for my best friend's little girl due to arrive at the end of May (due date April 12 for the shower...), my mother-in-law's 60th birthday sweater (due May 19), and then I need to find a good pattern for my new niece/nephew schedule to arrive in October. All of this AND more quilting/crafting projects for the various weddings/graduations this spring.

Whew!

I came over from Chris, Stumbling over Chaos. I actually try to avoid goals. I'm going to try to finish up some of the stuff I started without taking on too many new things.

Saw the contest on Stumblin Over Chaos

and mine's an autumn goal - being from the other side of the world - I want to knock at least one long term hibernater off my ravelry list. There are 4 on there i think, not counting current WIPs. I guess the secondary goal is to have the WIP list not expand... shrink would be good but I'm aiming for realistic here.

I just read your goals and had to laugh - it felt so familiar. I am so fickle - every time I see or think of something new I'd like to knit, I get the yarn and start. But then I remember that I have 10 other projects started and so put it down and go back to one of the others.

My goal is to start focusing focusing focusing.

I found your blog via WiKnit. My current goals are:
1- Finish my last owing Xmas present.
2- Learn more about crochet.
3- Knit Lizard Ridge, once I can afford all the yarn.
4- Knit another project entirely out of my own homespun.
5- Knit at least 10 skeins of yarn before I buy another one. (Mainly because the yarn is threatening to take over my bedroom if I don't.)

Hello, Your Spring Knitting list is long. Will you roll over the remaining tasks into a summer list? lol. I do not have that many projects that I am committed to yet. so far I have two:

A Step Above Socks
Cotton or silk tank or camisole

However, my Ravelry queue up to 100. But like I said, I have not committed to any of them yet.
